There is an active Neighbourhood House which runs many educational and recreational programs. The local museum is said to be among the best small town museums in the world, and there are a number of parks and playgrounds in the area.
Many community clubs operate such as Rotary, Lions, Red Cross, CWA, singing groups and a dance school.
Towong Shire operates the registered airport which has a bitumen sealed runway.
Police, CFA and ambulance are all represented, and there is a group of the State Emergency Service.
This is our church in the main street. It was once a doctor’s surgery, but has been the home of the Baptist Church for some years. It is on the corner of Hanson Street (Murray Valley Highway) and Kiel Street, near the hospital.
